S.A.D

2019

installation • display design • structure design

As winter approaches the days grew shorter and clouds hid the sun for days or weeks at a time, millions of people once again develop the sadness and loss of energy that is characteristic of seasonal affective disorder or known as SAD. While the reduced amount of light in the winter seems to be important and may influence  patients start to feel depressed starting from just wanted to stay indoors avoiding the cold. The strings tied densely around the sculpture represents the patient’s thought as well as darkness bringing discomfort. The circle on the top center represents the light, an end to a season. The seasonal affective disorder is treated with light. Where once entering the season the depression comes to an end once they are healed with light.
